Where we hate the Cowboys as much as you do

NFL Picks 2008 - Week 5 Results

with one comment

L/L - Colts -3 over Texans, 31-27, Texans outright: My assertion that Steve Slaton would rush for somewhere between 100 and 9,000 yards and 9 touchdowns was incorrect. He only rushed for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. Also, as it turns out, the Colts managed the second impossible, score three touchdowns in 4 minutes comeback in the last five years. A total collapse by the Texans and the Colts scoring just enough to cover the spread showed me why I don’t bet on football games — and why I’d never bet real money on a team from Texas.

L/T - Titans -3 over Ravens, 13-10, Ravens outright: Next week I see myself finally picking the Titans to win and them losing horribly. Or vice versa. It could go either way, really.

L/W - Dolphins +7 over Chargers, 17-10, Dolphins +7: BWAHAHAHAHA. God, I hate the Chargers. Might my outta nowhere team turn out to be correct two years running?

W/W - Panthers -10 over Chiefs, 34-0, Panthers cover: That was quick. Personal and confidential to Jake Delhomme: thanks for finding Mushin Muhammad in the end zone with Jerricho Cotchery taking the week off. Toodles.

L/W - Redskins+6 over Eagles, 23-17, Redskins +6: While the Cowboys had no answer for Santana Moss, the Eagles had no answer for a guy named Coolie. When I was a little kid, my grandmother referred to one’s butt as their “cooley.” I don’t know why I told that story… just that apparently we need to reevaluate the Redskins as they’ve just gone in to the houses of two division rivals and took decisive wins.

W/W - Bears -3 over Lions, 34-7, Bears cover. Nothing much to see here.

L/L - Falcons +10 over Packers, 27-24, Packers cover. Dear Tom, please stop taking moderately talented teams to cover double digit spreads against other moderately talented teams. Stop it. Sincerely, yourself.

W/L Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants: The Giants are historically awful after a bye week. They don’t have their best receiver which means it’s going to be relatively difficult for them to put a team away. If the Giants win this by a touchdown, I’ll be surprised. Seahawks +9

L/W - Broncos -3.5 over Bucs, 16-13, Bucs outright. I don’t understand this season. The Broncos aren’t good and keep winning against teams that should beat them. Gambling is stupid. On the other hand, thanks Warrick Dunn for performing admirably in your spot start for Jerry Porter.

W/W - Patriots -3.5 over Niners, 30-21, Patriots cover: Even less to see here.

W/W - Cardinals -1.5 over Bills, 41-17, Cardinals cover: Not a huge surprise here. Teams don’t like getting embarrassed by giving up 50+ points to old men.

W/L - Cowboys -14 over Bengals, 31-22, Cowboys cover: Commence the fellating.

L/L - Steelers +3 over Jags, 26-21, Jags cover: The Steelers are going to be one of those annoying teams that drop games they should win and win games they should drop… otherwise known as “team to never bet on under any circumstances.”

Monday
L/W - Vikings +3.5 over Saints, 30-27, Saints cover: When Reggie Bush scores two special teams touchdowns and you still come up a field goal short, it might be time to re-examine your defensive alignment. This was just a terrible defensive showing by the Saints in what was really a 30-13 blowout save for two punt returns.

5 - Washington +6 over Philly - W
4 - Panthers -10 over Chiefs - W
3 - Bears -3 over Detroit - W
2 - Seahawks +9 over Giants - L
1 - Cowboys -14 over Bengals - L

Standings
Straight Up: 6-8 (38-36)
Spread: 8-5-1 (37-35-2)
Point Pool: 12/15 (40/75 - .533)

I am finding this football season to be chaotic and impossible.
