Double Oof
Billy Wagner out for the year, possibly next year, and possibly his career.
Our closer’s Luis Ayala… strap in. On one hand, I know that Billy Wagner would have blown big saves down the stretch. On the other hand, I have no idea what Luis Ayala’s going to do. I guess I’m signing up for the Luis Ayala Fan Experience.
As for next year, I really don’t want the Mets to sign K-Rod. Don’t get me wrong, I think K-Rod will be great for a couple more years — but he’s got exactly the sort of batshit crazy, violent delivery that’s going to lead to him breaking down sooner rather than later. If I had my choice, roll the dice with John Maine and see what happens.
