NFL Picks: Week 9
In other news, it’s already week nine. Goddam if this season doesn’t go fast. In other news, this remains my least favorite week… the week when baseball is officially over. I hate it. Suddenly, there’s no sports to watch every night. It sucks.
Though Ms. L is a big fan.
Redskins -3.5 at Jets: On the heels of a soul-crushing loss loss to the Patriots, the Redskins have to travel up to the Meadowlands and face a tough Giants’ team on the road…. er, wait. The Jets? After that kind of loss? Redskins cover… take the over.
Packers +2.5 at Chiefs: This is the first of the “no f*cking clue” games on the docket this week. The Packers are going to be mildly over-rated on the heels of a Favre Monday Night ™ game last week, while the Chiefs just keep trucking along and racking up wins. That said, I’m smelling road upset here. I just can’t quite put my finger on why. Packers outright
Cardinals +4 at Bucs: I hate the four points on this game, because it makes me want to take the Cardinals… considering the the bye week (meaning a fresh Edgerrin James) and the Bucs tendency to win or lose tight games, I think 4’s too many. I’m going to hate myself for this, I think, but Cards +4.
Panthers -4 at Titans: Titans have reached the “I can’t f*cking pick these guys” point. However, I also can’t pick a team platooned by David Carr and Vinny Testaverde on the road. Titans cover.
Niners +3 at Falcons: I can’t pick the Falcons… I really can’t pick the Falcons with the other guy getting points. Niners +3.
Jaguars +3.5 at Saints: This is an interesting game. If the Saints win it, they’re officially back in the mix and back after one of the worst starts ever. On the other hand, the Jaguars just kind of keep winning games. One could almost call this “must win” for the Saints. As would I. Saints cover.
Broncos +3 at Lions: On the heels of that awful loss last week, they Broncos have to go to Detroit and face a hot team. The Jon Kitna ™ guarantee is on pace. I think they grab another one here. Lions cover.
Bengals +2 at Bills: You know, this game is a pretty good stick by which to check if the Bengals are officially over. I think they are. Bills cover.
Chargers -7 at Vikings: The Chargers demise was greatly exaggerated. The Vikings got crushed out by the Cowboys, the Chargers are going to kill them. With class. Chargers cover.
Seahawks +1 at Browns: Browns cover.
Patriots -4.5 at Colts: Maybe it will be close like everyone thinks it will. In my eyes, the teams are a wash… I’m picking the coach. Belicheck -4.5 over Dungy without Marvin Harrison? I don’t think this game is going to be nearly as close as people think. Patriots cover.
Texans +3 at Raiders: I don’t know how to handle this… I usually pick the Raiders to cover spreads… there’s no spread to cover. That said, I can’t force myself to pick the Raiders with the other guy getting points. Texans outright.
Cowboys -3 at Eagles: The Eagles threw a wrench in my perfect week last week. I hate them. I hate both of these teams. However, I’m picking the Cowboys here in hopes that creates a cosmic whirlwind that forces the Eagles to win which leads to Cowboys/Giants for control of the division next weekend. Cowboys cover.
Ravens +8.5 at Steelers: Ravens are another team that’s reached “can’t f*cking pick these guys” stage. I hate these games on Monday. Ravens +8.5, 40 total points.
